The film is set during the late 1930s: the occasion is the initial meeting between Mussolini and Hitler. Left alone in her home once her husband runs off to go to the historic event, Antonietta strikes a friendship with her gay neighbor Gabriele. Gabriele and Antonietta produce a very special relationship which will alter both of the outlooks as the day segues into night.
