Anne travels to Charlottetown to enroll in accelerated programs in order to pursue her dream of becoming a school teacher. While she is there, she is forced to swiftly adjust to her new surroundings and peers as she navigates her first school experience outside of Green Gables. Anne is confronted with difficult choices about her future, the stirrings of romance, and a tragedy beyond anything she has ever experienced. Meanwhile, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert battle the effects of aging while coping with financial difficulties and increasing diseases.
