Celebrity Deathmatch pits celebrities in a wrestling ring, with the loser usually dying gruesomely. It was noted for its abundant blood and injuries. The pilots aired on MTV on January 1 &25, 1998. The first run lasted 75 episodes from May14, 1998 to October20, 2002. One special, "Celebrity Deathmatch Hits Germany," did not count toward the final episode total. Stone Cold Steve Austin commented as his animated self. MTV announced a film based on the series in2003, but it was canceled that year. MTV2 revived the programme for "Sic 'Em Friday" in 2005. The return date was pushed back from November 2005 to June10, 2006 as part of a new "Sic'emation" block with Where My Dogs At and The Adventures of Chico and Guapo. The fifth season opener received over 2.5 million people, making it MTV2's highest-rated ever.
