Overview
Daniel Deronda is a British TV serial drama based on a George Eliot novel. The Tom Hooper-directed, Louis Marks-produced serial aired in three parts on BBC One from 23 November to 7 December 2002. The series stars Hugh Dancy as Daniel Deronda, Romola Garai as Gwendolen Harleth, Hugh Bonneville as Henleigh Grandcourt, and Jodhi May as Mirah Lapidoth. WGBH Boston coproduced. Louis Marks wanted to adapt the novel but gave up after a protracted casting procedure. It took five years for the drama to air on TV. Filming took place in England, Scotland, and Malta from May to August. The serial was Marks' last before he died in 2010.
