Overview
Herb's life is a total shambles. He's lost his welfare, is unable to work, is unable to communicate with his son, has a noisy neighbor, and lives on a diet of cheap beer and mushy peas. It's not a healthy way to live, and he's well aware of it. Then he sees on TV that Danish prisoners have it far better than he does: a job, access to healthcare, the peace and quiet of the countryside, and even an HDTV. They almost live in hotels. He bids farewell (and good riddance) to his dingy flat and smuggles himself to Denmark aboard a cargo ship, arriving in a quaint town with everything he requires, including a bank to rob. But when he meets a friendly local barmaid and a lovable stray dog who won't leave his side, he begins to wonder if prison is truly his only option for a fulfilling life.
