Despite the fact that his farm is in disarray, John Mills portrays a farmer who enjoys a drink. His life is turned around when he meets a young girl named Dulcima who takes pity on him and accepts the position of his cleaner. He is delighted to have some company, and she is anxious to earn some money. He finds himself falling in love with her, but things become more complicated when she begins seeing the gamekeeper with him. However, when she discovers that the farmer is a very wealthy guy, she decides she wants to be with him after all. However, she can't seem to stop thinking about the gamekeeper, and the farmer discovers this.
