Lora Meredith, a widow that dreams of being on Broadway, has a chance encounter with Annie Johnson, a single mother. While her point career is pursued by Lora, annie becomes the caretaker of Lora's daughter, Susie. Both women deal with the difficulties of jealousy: while the lightskinned daughter, sarahjane of Annie and her identity, struggle, her relationship threatens with Susie.
