Maya (Tallie Medel) and her on-again, off-again girlfriend Jules (Betsy Holt) wreck their car in present-day Texas during a night of backwoods raving and youthful mischief. They are rescued from the debris by Freddy (Robert Longstreet), a divorced oil worker whose stern exterior breaks as he discovers himself and his suppressed impulses in Maya. As Jules recovers, Maya and Freddy form a bond that helps them cope with the crushing silence of their small-town existence. Together, they discreetly encourage one another to pursue their passions (or at least figure out what that might be).
