When France's King (Peter Hutt) insists that John (Tom McCamus) abandon his throne in favor of his nephew, the young Prince Arthur, war seems a foregone conclusion. Excommunication, attempted atrocity, insurrection, and assassination all contribute to political unrest and personal agony for a grieving mother.
