Maurice Legrand, a cashier, is married to Adele, a terror. He meets Lucienne, "Lulu," by happenstance and decides to make her his mistress. He thinks he's finally found love, but Lulu is just a streetwalker in love with her pimp, Dede. She only accepts Legrand to meet Dede's financial requirements.
