Overview
Lost in Space is a science fiction TV show created and produced by Irwin Allen, filmed by 20th Century Fox Television, and broadcast on CBS. The show ran together with 83 episodes distance between March 6, 1968, and September 15, 1965. The TV season was filmed in both black and white, but the remainder were filmed in color. In 1998, a movie was released.
Though the original TV series concept devoted to the Robinson family, many subsequent story lines focused primarily on Dr. Zachary Smith, played by Jonathan Harris. Written as an extremely competent although utterly evil saboteur, Smith becomes the self-centered, incompetent foil who provides the comic relief to the show and causes most of the episodic battle and misadventures. Smith had not been from the unaired pilot and neither was the robot. A meteor storm at the unaired pilot put them off path. In the episode that was aired, Smith's endanger and presence caused them to move off path that they encountered the meteors. In the unaired edition , they were moving at a slow speed that they wondered whether these were around Mars, while at the aired episode, just seconds of hyper-drive plus so these certainly were lost, unknown light years from Earth.
