It's Christmas, and the picturesque city of York, where Jules, 16, and her father, David, live, is decked out for the holidays. David and Jules' relationship is similar to that of most fathers and their sixteen-year-old children in many aspects. He has difficulty understanding her, and she is adamant about not communicating with him. He desires involvement in her life; she desires her own space. However, David and Jules share a profound kinship in one significant way: Jules' mother, who was David's wife, died two years ago in a car accident. With both unable to cope with ordinary life in the aftermath of their loss, Jules decides to take matters into her own hands, motivated by good memories of her mother.
