Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal is a Canadian science fiction drama TV show. It was filmed in and around Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and aired 88 episodes over four seasons from 1996 to 2000. Some viewers took the show a little more seriously than it was meant to be, even though it was just a made-up drama, because Dan Aykroyd opened and closed each episode and talked about how real the organization it was based on was. Partly because of this, in 1997 the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, which was then called the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, gave Aykroyd a "Snuffed Candle" award for "contributing to the public's lack of understanding of the methods of scientific inquiry."
