Overview
Queer as Folk follows three gay guys living in Manchester's gay neighborhood near Canal Street. Russell T. Davies wrote Queer as Folk 1 and 2. The first series was rebroadcast on More 4 as part of Channel 4's 25th birthday celebrations. Queer as Folk was created by Red for Channel 4. The title derives from a dialect idiom from Northern England, "there's nowt so queer as folk," meaning "there's nothing as bizarre as people." This is a play on the modern English synonym of "queer," meaning homosexual. Davies originally titled the show this, but Channel 4 execs suggested Queer as Fuck during development and pre-production.
