Overview
Karel Novak is an unbelievably naive Czech immigrant that is taken under the wing of streetwise New York chorus girl Sylvia. With the help of lovable cop-on-the-beat Murphy, Sylvia hides Karel from the immigration authorities and also ultimately falls in love with him. Along with Karel's illegal-alien condition, the plot is made complex by a crooked lawyer as well as a team of well-meaning welfare workers that seek to place Sylvia's kid brother Frank in a foster home.
