An old, ill jazzman coaxes an evocative wail from his tenor sax inside the Blue Note nightclub in Paris in 1959. A young Parisian who is too poor to afford a glass of wine tries to hear those notes outside. They'll soon create a bond that will lead to a final burst of brilliance.
