Undercover cop Jim Raynor (Jason Patric) is a seasoned veteran. His wife, Kristen Cates (Jennifer Jason Leigh), is lacking in experience, but he thinks she's tough enough to work his next instance with hima deep cover mission to bring down the famously hard-to-capture medication lord Gaines (Gregg Allman). While their relationship turns amorous during the mission they also develop into junkies, also will have to battle their addictions should they want to bring down Gaines once and for all.
