Overview
Soap can be an American sitcom that ran on ABC to 1981 by 1977. The show is made as a night time parody of soap operas, presented as a weekly halfhour prime period humor. Very similar to a soap opera, the show's narrative comprised melodramatic plot elements such as demonic possession, abduction, murder, and kidnapping and was exhibited in a format.
Back in 2007 it was recorded among Time magazine's"100 Greatest television shows of all time," and at 2010, the Tates and the Campbells ranked at number 17 in TV Guide's list of"TV's Top Families".
The show was made, written, and executive produced by Susan Harris, and executive produced by Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas. Each coming season was preceded by a 90-minute retrospective of the season. Two of these retrospectives were made on VHS in 1994.
85 episodes aired within the course of 4 seasons. The final 4 episodes of the series aired through the initial run on ABC as one-hour episodes. These episodes were divided in two, producing 9 3 episodes.
All episodes are currently available on region 1 DVD in four vessel collections. The series contains re-run on TV Land and Comedy Central on local syndicated channels in addition to on cable. It ran on Antenna TV on over-the-air television, before December 30th, 2012.
