Overview
SURGE is a feature documentary about the unprecedented number of first-time female candidates who ran, won, and transformed politics during the historic 2018 midterm elections. SURGE follows three candidates in Texas, Indiana, and Illinois, all of whom sought to turn their red districts blue, including Lauren Underwood, the youngest black woman ever elected to Congress. Lauren is a registered nurse and public health expert who is now campaigning for COVID-19 relief as a freshman representative.
