Scott's development has been halted since his firefighter father died when he was seven years old. He's now in his mid-20s and has accomplished little, pursuing an illusory dream of becoming a tattoo artist. Scott is still living with his weary ER nurse mother, where he spends his days using pot, hanging out with the guys—Oscar, Igor, and Richie—and covertly hooking up with his childhood buddy Kelsey. However, when Scott's mother begins dating a loudmouth firefighter named Ray, a chain of circumstances unfolds that forces Scott to confront his loss and take his first hesitant steps toward moving forward in life.
