The Lovers is definitely an epic romance travel experience film. Helmed by Roland Joffé from the narrative by Ajey Jhankar, the film is a sweeping story of an impossible love set against the setting of their initial Anglo-Maratha war across two time periods and continents and centred around four personalities -- a British officer at 18th century colonial India, the Indian woman he falls deeply in love with, an American present-day sea biologist and his wife.
