Jim "Big Jim" Marshall Cole surrenders his badge and relocates to Wyoming with his family to claim land handed to him by a relative. He is opposed by a neighbor who wishes to maintain the land for his own sons and by a grizzly bear nicknamed "Satan" who is constantly destroying Cole's animals.
