Overview
Total wipe out is a British game show, hosted by Richard Hammond and Amanda Byram, that first aired on 3 January 2009. 20 contestants compete to win #10,000. These battles are located in large pools of mud or water and generally involve assault classes that participants must cross.
Total wipe out is a version of wipe out, the reveal that originated from the United States with the name marginally altered to prevent confusion with the BBC model of the previous match show of the exact same name.
On 29 March 2012, BBC confirmed they are to axe wipe-out. The Daily Mirror reported a BBC spokesperson said:"Following four very successful set of overall wipe-out, and one set of cold temperatures wipe out, the BBC has taken the decision that the next show, thanks to transmit after this calendar year, is going to be the past " The remaining 10 episodes from Series 5 ended the show's 4-year run before 2013 on BBC One and started broadcasting on 18 August 2012.
