One of the most popular television shows in South Korea, Warrior Baek Dong-soo is a 2011 fusion historical/action series starring Ji Changwook, Yoo Seungho, Yoon So-yi and others. From July 4 to October 10, 2011, it was shown on SBS at 21:55 on Mondays and Tuesdays for a total of 29 episodes. Swordsman Baek Dong-soo, a historical figure in Joseon history, grows into a folk hero in this period drama based on the comic Honorable Baek Dong-soo by Lee Jae-heon from 2010. King Jeongjo commissioned the writing of Muyedobotongji, which included Baek as one of the three authors. For all of the political intrigue that takes place in Joseon between factions such as those commanded by King Jeongjo and his Qing ambassador as well as Kenzo from Japan, the series at its foundation is about brotherhood, friendship and devotion and honor, all of which are intertwined throughout the narrative.
