Two out of work celebrities -- both the luckless Marwood and his acerbic, alcoholic friend, Withnail -- spend days drifting between the unemployment division their flat and the pub. Once they take a holiday"in error" at the country house of Withnail's flamboyantly homosexual uncle, Montythey fall upon the disagreeable facet of the English countryside: tedium, frightening locals and subtropical rain.
