Agony is a sitcom which aired on ITV from 1979 to 1981. It starred Maureen Lipman like a agony aunt that was thriving however marriage and whose personal life would be a tragedy. It was composed Andrew Nickolds, Anna Raeburn, Stan Hey and by Len Richmond. It was created for the ITV network by LWT.
Even though a humor, Agony sometimes managed issues which were seen as taboo during the time like medication use, racism, diplomatic, interracial relationships, and swinging, and has been the first British sit com to portray a homosexual couple as non-camp, witty, intelligent and joyful people. It openly resisted the authorities, the ruling classes, and religion, and included storylines.
