A Czechoslovakian town's fire fighters throw a ball in honor of their old leader's retirement. There will be a raffle and dancing, a beauty pageant and music. The town will maintain attendance. Nevertheless, issue dogs the event at every stage. Workplace injuries, stolen prizes, a lack of pretty girls... along with fire.
